Swizzle's Deck 72 cards, complete!

Grouped below as:

- The Final Countdown: USNl W@S Cards (use in normal W@S battle!) (6)
- The missing 88-120mm guns (2nds and 3rds that were left off.) (40 cards)
- Models my brother made for me! (1)
- German H-class Final Four (4)
- Late War Torpedo Adjustments (add range-2 later in war) (11)
- Miscellaneous! (6)
- Tillman IV-2, both pre-war and 1942 refit versions! (2)
- Gneisenau and Scharnhorst with Extended Range 5 (2)

The master for this deck was sent to the printer in August, 2015, came back same month, and I found many changes/tweaks I needed to do. As of Sept 6, I finished, and started putting the new versions up. I plan to send to printer again to ensure card quality in mid-September.

Deck01

The missing 88-120mm guns.

Guidelines
1. It takes a broadside of at least 4 guns to get a rating. Yes, some DE's and Auxiliaries have 3 guns or less and get a main gun rating for them, which they should. Some even have guns as small as 76mm and get a gun rating. However, RB did not give 2nds or 3rds for anything smaller than 90mm, and I go down only to the German 88, which was the equal of the 90mm's out there. (Rommel proved that the AA-purposed 88mm did great against targets on the surface.)
2. Almost all of these have sisters/near sisters that were given credit for these guns by RB or the Team Sea Gods, or at least have other units that have been given these guns, or again, guns very similar.
3. Also, the cost of the units went up one, except Adm Graf Spee which was overcosted. Also, Eagle and Hermes did not go up, as my 2nd deck will have all cap 1 CV's reduced in cost by 1.

Soviet Union (6 Ships)
These cruisers are given their secondaries, and 2 Battleships are given their tertiaries.
Spoiler:

United Kingdom (11 ships)
These British cruisers deserve to have their 4" Secondaries, as many other British cruiser already have. Hood, Eagle and Hermes also get the 4" guns.
Spoiler:

Germany (10 ships)
German Heavy Cruisers had their 4.1" guns listed ... but for some reason, not the Pockets, nor Moltke, nor Von Der Tann. Here they have them. Graf Spee re-costed as per The_Lucky_Y. The German CL's that could fire 4 88mm guns to a side also get credit.
Spoiler:

Italy (12 ships)
Italian light cruisers have as many secondaries per broadside as does Guiseppi Garibaldi, and here's the cards! Also, Italian BB's have been missing a few!
Spoiler:

Japan: (1 Ship)
Atago did not get her secondaries, yet all her sisters have them, so it's just an oversight. Oh, they are 5" guns!
Spoiler:

Number of ships affected:
Allies: 17
Axis: 23

Model my brother made for me!

USS Des Moines: (I have one my brother made for me!) Fully automatic 8" guns, the best of the best. Class limit 4. Discussion thread at: http://seasablaze.myfastforum.org/about1480.html

German H-class final products!

Here's my work on the iconic H-class, as the design plans were updated every year. Remember that only H-41 was ever a serious plan, the others were just exercises showing what it would be needed to be top BB in the world at that time. Many thanks to Nightfall and Bunyan for their help with these! o7

The Final Countdown - Normal Rules version!

This will be a "normal W@S" scenario using official cards for the Japanese fleet, only making cards for the American side. Currently in process!

Update: The Japanese fleet turns out to be ~580 points, and to give the Japanese a chance ... this will be done with objectives, and the following formula:

580 point fleet, so 290 point objectives and 870 points to win! That also means 3 ships to a sector and 5 planes as well!

I have not yet "costed" the American units, yet i want their total to be about the same cost as the Japanese fleet. There will be NO extra rules for the scenario, and the SIX American cards are getting closer to being finished! Here's what I have at the moment: (Um, they need a lot of work!)

Late War Torpedo Adjustments - 11

(While working on Team Kraken, it has come to my attention that some ships have "nerfed" torpedoes, in much the same way that about a dozen had the secondaries or tertiaries nerfed. There does seem to be a pattern to RB's "madness" though, which makes sense. Early-war cards (non-British) had lower torpedo stats than similarly-equipped ships that were late war. So, it seems to me that the only way to improve this is to make late-war cards for the same ships or for sisters ships, with a later date.

Working on the list now. Mostly will be giving some ships a sister with range-2 torp attack, however making the card with a date later in the war. As with those to whom I added the missing gun lines, I did not raise the cost.)

Netherlands - NONE TO DO
I was researching on whether or not to raise Dutch Torpedoes, and may not do so. Early war DD's seem to have been "reduced" by RB, while late war DD's with the same load have better Torps. (Z-29, T-27 vs Z-20). However, he did NOT do this for the Brits or Poles. If WdW has 2x3 centerline mounts, she (and her sisters) deserve a better torpedo attack. If they are beam mounts, then no. Still trying to solve this, as most tables do not distinquish between the location of the mounts.

Soviet Union - DONE (3)
Gromkiy has 2x3 centerline mounts, made late-war sister: Groznyi.
Silnyi also had 2x3 centerline mounts, made late-war sister: Slavnyi.
Baku had 2x4 centerline mounts, made a late-war sister: Minsk
Spoiler:

United Kingdom - NONE TO DO
I have looked into Brit/Aussue/NZ/Polish/Canadian DD's for torp attacks. I did not find any that seemed to be "nerfed". I found many to be over-statted, like Exeter that could only throw 3 torps to a side.

United States: - DONE (3)
Porter class: (Phelps)
1. Built with 8 centerline tubes, should be 2/2/1 early war. Selfridge
2. Late war Winslow had 0 torps and all 5"/38's were DP, with extra AA mounts. (AA6, 1945, no torps).
Fletcher class: Had 10 centerline tubes, should be 2/2/1.
Spoiler:

Germany - DONE (3)
German DD's with 1939 as their year do not have range-2 torps, yet others with a later year do. I have made 2 late-war cards for Z14 and Z15 with the better torp lines and other SA's. Here they are, I left their cost the same, as they are only available in 1942. I also added the Nurnberg, who had the same number of torpedoes to launch.
Spoiler:

Italy - DONE (1)
Ascari's (Camicia Nere) class had 2x3 centerline mounts, deserving better. Legionario will be sister.
Spoiler:

Japan - NONE TO DO.
Some late-war Fubuki's had their long-lances, and Brigs made a great card for them. Yeah!

Romania - NONE TO DO
Regina Maria has 2/2 for her 2x3 centerline torp mounts. Not sure why she was not given 2/1, or 2/2/1. Not planning to bother.

Sweden - DONE (1)
Goteborg had 2x3 centerline torpedo mounts. I'll made a late-war sister. It was a class of 6, so here's the Malmo!

Miscellaneous!

German DD's under construction at war's end: - (2)
Z-46 (I have one in 1:1200 scale!) Planned German Destroyers, larger than Narviks and armed with the Luftwaffe 128mm FlakZwilling guns. The turret layout was to be similar to the Japanese, with one turret forward and two turrets aft.
Z-56 Actual WWII design destroyer class planned by Germany, using the same 128mm FlakZwilling guns on an even larger, more seaworthy hull. Here the German were to have 2 twin turrets forward and one twin turret aft.
Spoiler:

T-class Destroyer Escorts (3)
The German "T"'s were called DE's so that they would not count against treaty limits, yet many were full sized destroyers! There are 3 cards I want to make: The original Mowe class which is smaller that the T-27 in the game. It would represent 12 ships that were very, very busy during the war. Then 2 other cards, representing full-size destroyers that were being built during the war. One class in Holland, the other in Prussia. Almost all of both classes were completed, just did not set sail. Here are all 3:
Spoiler:

Helicopter Cruiser! (1)
In 1942, the Koln had half her torpedoes removed, and a flight deck placed on one of her turrets for ... a helicopter! The German Army was using it to spot for artillery, and the Navy wanted to test it for use at see to help spot for Submarines! Well, the tests were very successful, but they chose not to deploy them because the cruisers weren't going to deploy out of Norwegian waters anyway.
So, here's the Koln, in all her glory, ready to lay mines and scout out targets for the submarines!

Now, to take on those nasty, nasty H-class ships ...

Tillman IV-2

As requested in another forum ... here are my versions of the Tillman IV-2's as planned, and as refitted after damage at Pearl:
Spoiler:

I think that she would have been rebuilt/refitted after Pearl the way others were, and she would have been a priority.

Not counting my "convention version" of The Final Countdown, that makes 70 cards.

I need to do 2 more for a full deck. After all, it's great to have a full deck! Wink

I'll take suggestions, and I'll see what I lust after, in terms of units for the game!

I have decided on my last 2 ships, with no real surprises here.

All my studies on the German 11" guns show that they deserve Range-5 in the game. Historically, they had the same range as the 16" guns on the Iowa class! Now, it's true that the 11's on the pockets are not the newest and baddest, so I am content to only give range-5 to the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.

Here they are, and the deck is complete!

At least the list of cards is finished. They need some fine-tuning and then to prepare for the printers! (oops, need to design a back first!)

Sweet I now got a card and reason to take my German BBs out again with the ER5.  I also noticed that on the torp readjustments you have the USSR symbol on US ships. (Not exactly what the CNO wants to see at this current time and date, lol)

Also where is Godzilla? I'm wanting to see if he really is as good as they have talked him up to be.

Ouch! Another example of why this author needs an editor! lol

I have fixed the Soviet Roundels on the destroyers. Also, I am going through all the cards to do 3 things to them, and when you see them with these, you know they are finished:

1. - my name is being removed
2. - A card number is in the lower right hand corner.
3. - Put a background to the text area that covers that ugly grey and makes it easier to read the text than the water that is there now.

Instead of replacing the water in the text area, I just made it lighter. Now to finish the deck!

Edited out, as I just sent a master to the printers, will get it back in about 2 weeks or so, and then I'll see what's next.

Thank you for all your great cards as well sir!

I plan to make a PDF of the Seas Ablaze! deck, just as a back up ... I do hope we can get to printing that deck.

I did just send the master for this re-done deck to the printers (same one that SWO uses) and hope to get a deck back in 2-3 weeks. Once I review what they look like, I may do some minor tune-ups or make it available.

The problem I see with doing this alone, is that the shipping for one deck was the same price as making the deck, so I paid $14 US.

Wow. Just got the "test-run" deck back, and this is MUCH better than using my color-laser printer. They look (if I may be so bold) fantastic, much better. Smile

Hey Swizzle...

I was looking at your cards (thanks for reminding me of this site) and noticed that you have the Nurnberg on it twice.  Yes I know 1 is 1939 and 1 is 1942... but they both have the same SAs same cost.  but one has a range 2 torp attack.  I was thinking that you might to just get rid of the 1939 one as it will not ever get played... or make the 1942 a 1939 unit?  BTW I have been using your Z56 unit a lot. that armor 3 and range 3 attack is nasty.

Yes, part of my work on that deck is to make those two more different from each other, thanks for the reminder. The both will cost 1 more, because of the secondaries. The 1942 will probably lose "Tough Cruiser" and the Torps are no longer nerfed. I am open to ideas!

I am making the following changes to this deck as I go through each card. I lost the masters to some, so will have to start from scratch on those!

- Change light-grey text to white.
- Add 1 point for those with new attack line.
- Remove reverse-indentation from SA's.
- Differentiate the 2 Konigsbergs more.
- Fix the size error where needed.
- Line up text better.
- make sure card number text is larger.
- lighten water background (front and back)
- replace/redo fuzzy text

- and finally, GO SLOWER!

FINISHED! All the cards shown above are the final versions for this deck!

I have already received 7 orders for the deck, without really trying! In the next few days I will have everything ready for the printers. I don't know the cost yet, I know a deck alone costs about $7.00 or so, and then there's shipping and handling to get it to me, and then on to the buyer. Hopefully, there will be enough orders to cut all costs!

Taking a break from my 2nd deck, as I have closed ordering for my first deck and am going to start processing the order. For those that have ordered, I'll pm you shortly on the cost of S&H. Thanks to all of you for your support!
